Our history

Founded in 1979, Les Fraises de l’Ile d’Orléans inc (FIOINC) was initially specialized in conditioning and marketing of small fruits from Ile d’Orléans. Over the years, we developed many innovation (R&D) partnerships with private and public partners on breeding, durable development, protected culture, integrated pest management, etc.

Indeed, the cultivar Authentique Orléans, rich in polyphenols and favouring a better glucose management (Deabetes) was created in partnership with Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada. FIOINC participated in the training and the research program  of numerous master and doctoral students in our own R&D facilities.

We were the first company to introduce and develop day-neutral strawberries grown in the Fall in Quebec to prolong the season up to 5 months. FIOINC was also a leader in the development of soilless fruit production under high tunnels.

André GosselinPresident and co-founder of FIOINC

FIOINC grows fruits on many farms but the main one is located in St-Laurent-de-l’Ile d’Orléans, Quebec, Canada. All our farms are organized to manage water efficiently from lakes to our numerous   fields and greenhouses through underground piping and drip irrigation.

Les Fraises de l’ile d’Orléans inc continuously improved the growing practices of strawberry, raspberry and blackberry. These products are sold using the Trademark Authentique Orléans in many supermarkets in Quebec, Maritimes, Ontario and Eastern United states.
